14A- Halfway Reflection
1. Tenaciousness is a competency
Throughout the first half of this course, I
have been able to exercise my ability to complete work ahead of time. I have
some courses that take up the majority of my time, so having one course that
allows me to complete assignments early makes it easier for me to plan out my
schedule and get things done for other classes.
2.
Tenaciousness is also about attitude
I felt like I was most likely to give up
when I had to record my first elevator pitch. I felt this way because I had to
record it about ten times. I knew what I had to say, and I had it memorized,
but I am a perfectionist, so if I said one thing with an odd tone or tripped on
a word, I made myself start over. What motivated me to keep recording myself
was the comments that I had received on my earlier posts supporting my business
idea. A lot of my classmates expressed they would use what I was proposing, so
while recording I would think back to that feedback. I feel like I have
developed a tenacious attitude because coming up with your own raw business idea
is not easy and fleshing it out can be very hard.

Helpful Tips
-Follow through with an idea that you have
some sort of passion for. If it is not an idea you can relate to and feel
strongly about, the process will be harder than it already is.
-Try not to be sensitive, take all
constructive criticism as a positive thing. Without constructive criticism, you
would only see your perspective of the business idea.
-Write down the due dates of all assignments
in an agenda or notebook and try to complete each assignment ahead of time.
Doing this will all your work to be more carefully constructed and you will feel
less stressed in any other classes you’re taking.
Hi Brianna,
ReplyDeleteGreat post! I agree that it is important to accept all feedback whether it is positive or critical. Feedback helps you build upon and improve your idea. I also agree that it is important to keep track of ll of the assignments and their due dates because it is easy to forget them. I think tenacity is a large part of this course.
Hi Brianna,
ReplyDeleteWell done on your reflection! I agree that with entrepreneurship (and hence this class), passion is one of the most important keys to succeeding. If you don't have a genuine drive and excitement to work on your idea, to listen to the lectures so as to learn, and to flesh out your ideas, then you will struggle to get through the assignments and to keep up. However, if you truly enjoy working on new ideas and the notion of entrepreneurship, this class will seem second nature and less like a chore and more like an accountability buddy.
Hi Brianna!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading your post, you included a lot of important information that is necessary for success in this course. One thing you highlighted that I did not is having a positive response to constructive criticism, which I think is very important. As proud as we are of our ideas, it is important to realize that feedback can make our products better, and should not make us feel inadequate. Great job!
