5A- Identifying Local Opportunities

Below are five stories that have taken place in my hometown near Tampa, Florida. Each story discusses problems that could be avoided by implementing an entrepreneurial outlook. 1.        Fire Destroys Brandon Church Building; Firefighter Hospitalized Link: https://www.tampabay.com/news/publicsafety/fire-damages-brandon-church-building-firefighter-hospitalized-20190419/ Story: Off of Dew Bloom Road in Brandon, Florida, a church engulfed in flames leaving parishioners with no church to return to. A firefighter and a parishioner suffered smoke related complications. Problem: The staff and parishioners of this church have lost their place of worship and a place they may call their second home. Who has the problem?: The pastor, clergy, and the regular members of the church who have been affected by the unforeseen situation, those who were injured, and even those who have visited the church or planned to visit. 2.     ...

4A- Forming an Opportunity Belief

1)       I believe that there is an opportunity to create some sort of gadget, depending on the store, that customers can obtain while shopping in retail stores, that indicates whether or not they want help from an employee. 2)         Currently, when people visit retail stores they are doing it because they want something to keep them busy or they are on the lookout for something specific. The unmet need is the need for personal space and the ability to enjoy the leisure activity of shopping. One of my cousins, who is about 17 years older than me is a contractor for the military but likes to say he has a “side job.” His “side job” consists of buying homes, gutting them out, renovating them, and then renting them out. These homes are not the typical home. He designs them so that multiple families can live in them. To be clearer, he will take a rather large home divide it into about four units and rent to four different tenants. Each tenant has their own entrance and amenities. Each unit consists of a good size kitchen, dining area, family room, anywhere from 2-3 bedrooms, and 1-2 baths.   He has developed over 10 of these properties. They are all within 5 miles of each other in an area that young adults and new families seem to be attracted to (South Tampa). His choice of...

Bug List

1)       “Scam Likely” calls/Robocalls Why : Scammers want personal information from individuals to steal their identity and telemarketers want people to complete surveys and donate. 2)       Poor customer service anywhere I am considered a customer Why : Employees of companies are not considerate of their clients emotions or do not obtain the proper personality to be an employee that requires exceptional customer service skills. 3)       Dog owners that do not clean up after their dog when walking them Why : The owners are lazy and do not care about the nasty or messy situations that can occur from leaving the feces on the ground. 4)       When you order clothing online and it appears to be completely different Why : There is only pictures provided online and the sellers make the items appear perfectly online so that people purchase it. 5)       Employees...
